How I Discovered Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) & Why I Chose This Path

For years, I followed the traditional career path—working hard in my 9-to-5 job, climbing the corporate ladder, and striving for financial success. But deep down, I felt stuck. I knew that true wealth and freedom didn’t come from trading time for money—it came from owning a business.

My journey into entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA) started with a single book: Buy Then Build by Walker Deibel. That book changed everything. It opened my eyes to a proven pathway to business ownership—one that didn’t require starting from scratch, but instead acquiring an already successful business and scaling it further.

Why Acquisition?

After reading Buy Then Build, I knew acquiring a business was the right path for me. I saw that most successful entrepreneurs didn’t build businesses from the ground up—they bought and grew existing ones. This made perfect sense: why take on the massive risks of a startup when you can step into a business with customers, revenue, and proven operations?

Beyond financial gain, my motivation for pursuing ETA comes from a deep desire for freedom and control over my life. Here’s what drives me:

✅ Owning My Time – The ability to work when I want, with who I want, and how much I want.
✅ Financial Freedom – Generating wealth that allows me to retire early and spend time doing what I love.
✅ Family & Legacy – Building something meaningful that I can pass down to future generations.
✅ Passions & Impact – Supporting dog rescue organizations, traveling the world, golfing, and raising a family.

Breaking Free from the 9-to-5 Trap

I realized that a job would never give me the life I truly wanted. Even with a great career in finance, wealth management, operations, and client services, I saw the limitations of earning a paycheck. The wealthiest, most fulfilled people I looked up to all had one thing in common—they owned businesses.

That’s when I made the decision: I would acquire a small business, grow it, and take control of my future.

My Mission as an Acquisition Entrepreneur

I’m now on a mission to buy and grow a small service-based business, particularly in industries like HVAC, pest control, plumbing, and other essential services. These businesses form the backbone of our economy, and I want to help them thrive.

I’m actively searching for business owners looking to transition—those who want to ensure their company continues to grow under new leadership while preserving their hard work and legacy.
